New Program Offers Discounts at Local Stores, Raises Money for the Fight Against Cancer

(Southern Oregon) and the American Cancer Society (ACS) have launched a new program that provides discounts at local Southern Oregon stores while raising money to fund cancer research, programs and services. Shoppers who donate $20 or more to the American Cancer Society are eligible to receive a free Shop Downtown Discount Card. Simply make a donation online, get your receipt verified, and receive your discount card to save 5-15% off at participating retailers.

When you get a Shop Downtown Discount Card, you help support your neighbors, the local economy, and the American Cancer Society’s mission to save lives, celebrate lives and lead the fight for a world without cancer. You also can get great savings on a variety of products and services every time you patronize a participating member (see participating stores). It’s a win/win situation.

“We are proud to bring visibility to our downtown merchants and cooperatively raise money for the American Cancer Society,” said Daniel Wells.

“The American Cancer Society is honored to accept these generous donations and to invest them in free programs and services for families facing a cancer diagnosis and in cutting-edge cancer research,” said Whitney Eikmeier.

ACS estimates that more than 25,000 Oregonians will be diagnosed with cancer this year and nearly 8,500 will die from the disease. In 2021, more than 2,000 Oregonians called ACS’s National Cancer Information Center at 1-800-227-2345 for information and answers about cancer. This service is available 24/7 for patients, caregivers and others who need support and information.
